A milk van overturned early Monday morning on the EM Bypass near Chingrighata, briefly disrupting traffic towards Salt Lake Stadium. The van was on its regular route from Santoshpur to Rajabazar when it lost control due to wet road conditions following overnight rains.
The vehicle skidded and hit the central railing on the bypass, overturning in the process. Fortunately, the vehicle's speed was under control, which helped avoid a more serious accident. No casualties have been reported in the incident, and the driver managed to escape from the overturned vehicle with minor injuries, if any.
Local commuters witnessed a slight traffic build-up shortly after the accident. The Beleghata Traffic Guard acted swiftly and arrived at the spot to manage the situation. A wrecker van was deployed to lift and remove the milk van from the middle of the road.
The overturned vehicle was straightened and cleared from the spot, and within a short time, normal traffic flow resumed on the northern lane of the EM Bypass. Police also ensured that proper safety measures were taken to prevent any further mishap due to the wet road.
